YoloDeck: A Streaming Controller for YoloBox

This device lets me control my live stream like as pro.

In this post, I will share my hands-on experience with the YoloDeck, the streaming controller designed for the Yolobox Ultra—an all-in-one live streaming solution.

Unboxing 

Included in the box is the YoloDeck, featuring 15 glossy black tactile buttons and a USB-C port. 

Accompanying it is a stand with adjustable heights for positioning the YoloDeck. 

Additionally, there is a 2-meter-long USB-C to USB-A cable.

Setting Up

Insert the USB-C end of the cable into the YoloDeck. 

Then, plug the standard USB end into the YoloBox Ultra, set up and ready to go live. 

Once the buttons on the YoloDeck light up, you're all set to control the stream. 

Testing

Pressing the source number button on the YoloDeck changes the video source on the YoloBox Ultra. 

The source numbers on the YoloDeck correspond to the positions of the video sources in the YoloBox Ultra switcher panel. 

I can rearrange the video sources on the YoloBox Ultra switcher panel to correspond with the button numbers.

Activating and deactivating an overlay, including the countdown timer, is straightforward. 

Likewise, the Overlay number on the YoloDeck matches the position of the overlay in the Yolobox Ultra, which I can also rearrange. 

For this test, I won't press the Go Live button yet.  Let's take a look at the Record button instead. 

Pressing it starts the recording onto the SD Card. Press it again to stop. It's very convenient.

FTB stands for Fade To Black. Hitting this button will black out the video. 

Customizing

The buttons are customizable. 

Go to the YoloBox Ultra Settings and select the YoloDeck Configuration. 

Choose a function from the list and drag it over a button to replace it. 

You can also drag a button to the bin to delete it. You can drag it back later. 

For this test, I will replace two Overlay buttons with the Replay Start and Stop functions. 

Press Save and the new configuration will be applied to the YoloDeck.

Adding More Buttons

What if 15 buttons are not enough? Let me show you how to add more. 

Go to the YoloBox Ultra Settings and choose the YoloDeck Configuration. 

Tap the "+" button to create a new page of blank buttons.

After that, drag in the functions you need.

You can add as many pages as you want. 

Press the "-" button to delete pages. 

There are ten categories of functions available. Additional functions will likely be added in the future.

I've created six pages to try out all the available operations. 

Simply press the left or right arrow to switch between the pages. 

Functions

During a typical live stream, the YoloDeck will be close at hand.

I'll use the Max Program to expand the video monitor.

The Mixing Tab will bring up the Audio Mixer. In the future, I'd like to adjust the audio directly from the YoloDeck.

Activating the Overlay Tab will display the Overlay panel. I'm looking forward to adjusting my overlays through the YoloDeck.

The Comment Tab? I will try it shortly in an actual live stream.

Replay

Previously, I had to stretch my arms out to hit the Replay button. Now I can just press the Start Replay button on the YoloDeck.

PDF

I have prepared a PDF slide presentation in Source 4. 

On the YoloDeck, I can use the PDF Next Page button to advance to the next slide, and the PDF Last Page button to return to the previous slide.

Scoreboard

Pressing the Scoreboard button will bring up the Scoreboard. 

Adding scores to the teams is so easy now on the YoloDeck. 

Pressing the Scoreboard button again will hide the Scoreboard. 

This is the best use of the YoloDeck for sports live streams.

Without the YoloDeck, I had to fumble through the settings to get the same thing done.

Final Thoughts 

It would be ideal if the Yolobox remote control had the same capabilities as the YoloDeck. 

It would be helpful to have thumbnail images of the source and the overlay on the buttons to avoid memorizing them. 

Additionally, having the ability to create a page dedicated to multiple sound effects would be beneficial.
