Lensgo TC7 Teleprompter Review: Is it Worth the Hype for YouTubers & Presenters?

It's crazy to think this video was posted 19 months ago, but it's recently started getting a lot of attention, and for good reason! Using a teleprompter is one way to improve your on-camera presence, whether you're recording YouTube videos, presenting at work, or even just filming a vlog.

In this video,  I show you how to read a script while looking into the camera using a teleprompter. I'm using the Lensgo TC7 teleprompter, but there are many other options out there.

👉The main component of a teleprompter is the angled one-way mirror. It's a piece of reflective glass with a hole behind it for the camera to look through. You place your script in front of the glass, and you can see it while the camera only sees your face.

👉To attach the teleprompter to your camera, you'll need to choose the right size adapter ring for your lens. Then, you just slide the adapter into the slot behind the teleprompter and place the camera with the teleprompter onto your tripod.

👉You can also use a teleprompter with a smartphone or iPhone camera. Just pick the right size shading ring for your phone and push it into the adapter slot. Then, put your phone into the provided phone holder and adjust the position so that the camera sits nicely over the slot.

👉Once you have the hardware set up, you'll need a teleprompter app for your script. I use the TCQI app by Huangxi, but there are many other options available. Just paste your script into the app and give it a name. When you're ready to present, just tap on the script and press play. The mirror image script will start scrolling slowly. You can adjust the font size and scrolling speed in the settings.

👉There are a few cons to using this teleprompter. First, you can't see yourself while recording unless you have an assistant or an external monitor. Second, you can't use the ultra-wide camera lens unless you want to see the teleprompter app. And third, it takes a little practice to read the script smoothly.

I think a teleprompter is a great tool for anyone who wants to improve their on-camera presence. It can help you look more confident and polished, and it can also help you avoid ums and ers.
