Insert Sony Cinescore Installation CD and Click "INSTALL CINESCORE SOFTWARE". The process takes less than 2 minutes. Run Vegas7 and drop into the timeline a video clip for testing. Right click on the audio track and select "Insert Generated Music...". Type in serial number for Sony Cinescore. Register online. Play around with some settings... themes and variations. Bought Sony Vegas 7 + DVD , BUT let it sit on the shelf. After 2 weeks of work and family, I finally have time for myself. Installed the software on the Acer Aspire 9500 Laptop. Arrive two hours earlier to set up your tripod and camcorder at the best position but keep in mind to minimize obstruction, especially the VIP's view of the stage. Plug in the audio feed from the main sound system into your camcorder and do a SOUND CHECK. This is to capture good quality speeches. For speeches and performances, fix camcorder to the tripod but remember to zoom in and close-up on the action or emotion. For off-stage happenings, like reception and mingling, get the camcorder off the tripod and go mobile. Remember to unplug the audio feed. Capture more of the VIP mingling with the guests.

I wonder why some video houses still produce videos on analog Betacam-SP. They should stop wasting clients money and make videos in High Definition or HD. We all know clients cannot play and watch a video recorded in Betacam-SP. We do know all of us can easily play DVD, mini-DV and the up-and-coming HDV. In today's tutorial, I will go through the process of transfering Betacam-SP to mini-DV. I do this frequently for clients, so that they can watch their videos while preserving high quality. Betacam SP to MiniDV using Sony Betacam SP Player and Sony MiniDV CamCorder Connect the Betacam Player XLR audio outputs to the MiniDV Camcorder Line audio inputs using the cable provided with the camcorder and a pair of XLR adaptors. Connect the Betacam Player s-video output to the MiniDV Camcorder s-video input using an s-video cable. Power up the units. Set the MiniDV Camcorder to VTR mode, AV in. After shooting so many seminars, it is time I attend seminars. So today, professional videographers from all over Singapore gather at the Hilton Hotel for the launch of the Sony V1 High Definition Camcorder. Things are really getting better. Professional equipment are getting smaller, lighter and yet more powerful. Also launching together is the the very portable hard disk recorder. THIS is what I have been waiting for! Clients can now enjoy faster delivery of their edited event video. Equipment and technology aside, the seminar was a great time to meet up with old friends and make new ones.

Filmed a fashion show this morning and the client needs the VCD by 3pm. With my trusty video production laptop, the VCDs were delivered at 1pm. Now I only wish Sony created a light-weight "desktop power" notebook with long stamina battery. That way I may complete the production on the spot.

This question is thrown at me again today. My immediate reply is of course "SONY"! Then I will follow that by saying Sony is not the cheapest though, but there will be no regrets. I strongly recommend Sony because I have used other brands in the professional arena like P........, J.. and C.... . I can tell you they are inferior in terms of speed, accuracy and details. Would you like to press the record button then wait one second or more for the tape to start rolling? No you cannot afford to lose one second in event videography. Sony's record button is immediate. Would you like your auto focus lens to take one second or more to adjust itself? Again sony has a better response. Would you like to see the LCD screen at low resolution and changing color when you shift you head just a little? Sony's LCD screens are as good as their TV. What is the most efficient way to showcase our works? Put it on YouTube of course. We have two requests today to view our video portfolio. One request is for a industrial corporate video and the other is for a wedding animated cartoon video. Instead of travelling to each other to view the samples, or even send a portfolio DVD to the clients, all we have to do is upload the works onto YouTube and that's it. Technology! The real question is... Do you know the difference between the video CDs that you burn yourself with your PC and the video CDs that you buy from video shops? The answer is... a world of diference! In this article, I will attempt to answer in layman terms so that non-technical people might understand. First, they are manufactured differently. One is BURNED and the other is STAMPED. CD Burning is also known as CD Writing. This is what you do on your PC if you have a CD writer. You use blank medias called the CDR where R stands for Recordable. The process of burning or writing takes a few minutes as the video data is burned onto the CD track by track. Your PC can only burn one CD at a time. If you need to make more copies of the same CD quickly, you will need to use a CD Duplicator. A CD Duplicator machine is about the size of a desktop PC or bigger and can burn seven or more CDs at a time in a few minutes. CD Duplication is suitable for creation of small quantities of two to 500 CDs. CD

In the last post I said there was a difference between your PC and our PC. Our PC is configured and optimised to do high level stuff like video capturing and DVD burning at the highest quality. DVDs we produce must be crisp, sharp and play smoothly on any DVD player. There is a long checklist to configure and optimise our PC. I will be revealing only 2 items for you. 1. Here's the trade secret leak. We don't use expensive hardware or software . All we need is just a S$2000 miniDV camcorder, a $3000 PC and a $200 software . A client wants to convert her betacam tape to DVD. We gladly accepted the job. When the tape arrived we found it was not a betacam but a DIGITAL betacam tape. The price for conversion will be 3 times more! All we can explain in layman terms is that Digital betacam is a very high end broadcast format and the players cost five figures and more. Today, 22nd September 2006, marks the end of 2 SOLID MONTHS of Hungry Ghost Festival. Very unusual. Many friends and associates showed concern for my business, as we all know that there are no weddings during this festival. No wedding shoots . No business. NOT TRUE. The two months fared better than any other months. We were busy with overlapping assignments of corporate videography (marketing videos, award ceremonies, industrial construction and my favourite... seminars ). I had to hire freelance to help me out. Some of the jobs got so me so stressed up that I had to fall ill. But one thing I enjoyed best... My weekends were free! Yes, free weekends means outings with the kids. Why are there so many phone enquiries looking for photography service? I thought the company name clearly states "Video" as in " Adrian Video Image ". Even the website is called " Video Lane.com ". The party went smooth or at least it looks well planned... 3 solid days of cool crisp mountain air. That's the school holiday family vacation. The kids had unlimited rides at the theme park. The adults made money at the casino. Refreshed? Yes. While rushing for a client to compile 15 animated SWF flash files with sound to a DVD, I discovered that software encoders were way too slow. Spent the whole afternoon figuring out the fastest way to do it. Then it hit me. It was just a near impossible thought, but I experimented anyway. It worked! The requirement was to convert each SWF file to MPG, then edit them to fit the TV screen safety margin and finally rearrange the sequence before putting them on DVD. Using traditional methods, this will take a few hours! Manually editing and rendering. So I thought... why not play the SWF file full screen, output it via the S-video out from the PC into the DV camcorder (at the same time connect the PC audio line out to the camcorder line in), then from the same camcorder firewire out back to the PC. Finally at the PC end, capture straight to DVD. It's a LOOP. Screen capture out from PC then back again. Impossible? No. It worked! The sound was great too. Further, there were no dropouts. A

From 9am to 5pm, videography of cooking instructional DVDs for Prima Food . 6pm till late, videography for for the launch event of Absolut Apeach , a new flavour by my favourite vodka. At Prima, we filmed the process of preparing 8 local dishes. I get to savour all of them after shooting each dish. Yummy! Absolut vodka? Irresistable. Gulped a few shots. Vodka shots not video shots. I am drained, after 10 continuous days of "passive" video shooting during the day and overnight editing. Passive because it is a recording of a training seminar event without much moving around. We call the printed paper cover wrapped around the rectangular DVD casing the "DVD cover". To date, we have been relying on NERO Cover Designer to create and print it. It is so far the easiest to use as it allows resizing of images, accurate placement of texts on the spine and convenient cutting lines. NERO Cover Designer comes packaged with Nero Burning ROM.

Some clients send me CDs with notes saying "Please duplicate 100 copies of this CD. Will collect tomorrow morning." What scares me is not the 100 copies, BUT the note. The note is attached to the CD with a sticky tape stuck on the CD face itself. THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS. I have to remove the tape carefully. If the sticky tape is strong enough, it might peel part of the surface away. AND the the surface is where the data is. There is a misconception that the data on the CD is in the shiny side where the laser reads. Nope! The data is on the printed side. If a tiny piece of the printed side peels off, there goes your data.
