Lessons Learned from a 53k View Facebook Reel Video

As a Creative Solopreneur, I’ve learned that the secret to a successful content creation strategy isn't just about chasing viral trends or obsessing over total views.

While many creators focus solely on how many people watched their product reviews, the real value often lies in conversion. Recently, I put my video marketing strategy to the test by posting the same travel gear review across four platforms. The results were a massive wake-up call, proving that consistency in product reviews—even when the views vary wildly—is the most reliable way to drive affiliate sales and build genuine trust with your audience. Here is the behind-the-scenes look at how one video turned into a consistent sales driver.

Why I Stopped Chasing View Counts and Started Focusing on What Really Matters...

Lately, I’ve been doing a little experiment. I posted a 25-second video reviewing a slim travel adapter on four different platforms—YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook—to see how they’d perform.

The results were wild and, honestly, a little confusing at first. On YouTube, I hit 2.2k views. TikTok and Instagram were sitting in the high hundreds. But then there was Facebook. The video exploded to over 53k views.

At first, I was just looking at those view counts, wondering why Facebook was so much higher than the rest. But then I looked at the actual data, and it completely changed my perspective on what it means to "succeed" as a creator.

It’s Not About the Views, It’s About the Value...

If you just look at the surface, you might think my Facebook video was a "hit" just because of the view count. But when I dug into the stats, I realized the real win wasn't the 53k views—it was the 63 items sold through my Shopee SG link.

That one video generated roughly $1.6k in sales...

For us as creators, that is the real game-changer. It’s easy to get discouraged when a video doesn’t go viral or when view counts are lower than you hoped. But this experience reminded me of a simple truth: consistency in product reviews pays off.

My Takeaways for You...

If you’re a fellow creator feeling like you're stuck on the "view count treadmill," here is what I’ve learned from this:

Focus on the problem you’re solving: People aren't just watching because they like me—they’re watching because they want to know if a travel adapter actually works. When you provide a clear solution, the algorithm (and the audience) rewards you.

Don't ignore the "quiet" engagement: Even though my Facebook retention dropped off as the video went on, the people who stayed were the ones who actually cared enough to click the link and buy.

The "Saves" are key: I noticed a good amount of saves on that video. When someone saves your review, they’re telling the algorithm, "This is useful, I need to come back to this." That is a massive signal for long-term growth.

I’m a Creative Solopreneur, and at the end of the day, my goal is to help my audience find the gear that actually makes their lives easier. When I stay consistent and keep my reviews simple and helpful, the results show up in the sales—not just the vanity metrics.

Keep creating, keep reviewing, and don’t let the view counts get you down. The right audience is out there waiting for your next recommendation.
