Decluttering 10 Years of Videography Gear: What Stays and What Goes

Image
It is amazing how much equipment accumulates over a decade.  Recently, I took the time to sort through a pile of production gear that I used heavily for almost 10 years but haven't touched in more than six. Moving to a leaner, more mobile workflow means it is time to reclaim some physical space. Here is a look at what is officially leaving the house and what is being tucked away into storage. Saying Goodbye: The Throwaway Pile Letting go of equipment is not always easy, especially when it holds memories of past jobs and travels. - The Red Hard-Shell Luggage: This one hurts a little to let go. This red suitcase has serious sentimental value. It traveled the world with me on countless work trips, protecting my event videography gear across multiple continents and venues. Unfortunately, the locking mechanism is completely jammed now, making it unusable. It has earned its retirement. - The Black Omnipro Suitcase: A reliable soft-shell companion for transporting gear, but the corn...

AI Prompts for Generating Storyboard Images to Videos

Image
Storyboard to Video Creation Prompts... 1. The Storyboard-to-Video Pipeline "Create a 3x3 storyboard grid for a short video about [insert concept]. Each panel should show a different scene with consistent character design and cinematic composition. Include a brief scene description below each frame." Feed the entire grid into Seedance 2.0 or Kling as a reference image. The video output matches the storyboard almost exactly. This is the workflow right now. If you're bad at writing video prompts, this skips that problem entirely.  2. The Character Reference Sheet "Create a character reference sheet for [insert character description]. Show front view, side view, and back view with a color palette. Keep proportions and style consistent across all angles." Upload this as your reference image every time you generate a new clip. Same character, every scene, every video. Before Images 2.0, you couldn't get consistent multi-angle output from one prompt. Now it works...

Unboxing the Anker SoundCore 2: Does it Really Have "Intense Bass"?

Image
I just picked up a new toy—the Anker SoundCore 2 in white. I've been looking for a reliable external speaker for my laptop because my built-in computer speakers just don't cut it when I want to sit back and play some games. Most Bluetooth speakers suffer from an annoying audio delay, which ruins the gaming experience, so I specifically hunted for a speaker that still features a physical auxiliary (AUX) input. When I saw this one on the TikTok Shop for about $42 SGD, boasting "intense bass" and stereo sound, I decided to buy it and test it out live. Here is how it held up to my tests. Watch on YouTube...  https://youtube.com/live/BBlFCIF6nAk First Impressions & Build Quality Straight out of the box, the speaker feels solid. The whole body is wrapped in a rubberized, anti-slip material, which explains its IPX7 waterproof rating. The control buttons on top are massive—the plus button is almost the size of my thumb. But the most important part for my setup was hidden ...

DBS Altitude Priority Pass Access to SATS Premier Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 2

Image
Waiting for a flight doesn't have to mean sitting at a crowded departure gate. During a recent trip out of Singapore, I spent my pre-flight time inside the SATS Premier Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 2. Here is exactly what you can expect if you decide to step inside. The first thing that caught my eye was the beverage selection. There is a solid free-flow of alcoholic beverages, ranging from wine to spirits like vodka and whiskey, plus plenty of juices, soft drinks, and an automated coffee machine. For food, the hot buffet features a few local favorites, including a signature laksa station that hits the spot before a long haul. Beyond the food, the space is built for resting. The seating area is comfortable, complete with USB charging ports at the tables to juice up your phone or laptop. If you need a proper reset, there are clean shower rooms and even a dark, quiet room with massage chairs where you can kick back while you wait. I access this lounge using my Priority Pass. The...
