I wrote about the Huawei P40 in the previous post.

In this post, I will explore the Huawei P40 Pro.

When is the Huawei P40 Pro launched?

The Huawei P40 Pro was released on 26 March 2020 together with the Huawei P40 (without the “pro”).

What’s the main selling feature of the Huawei P40 Pro?

  1. Leica Quad Camera
  2. Kirin 990 5G Chipset
  3. Innovative design upgrades

I will ignore feature 2 and 3 because every new device definitely runs faster and looks better.

What’s a Leica Quad Camera?

Leica is a leading manufacturer of high-end cameras. So they made the quad camera for the Huawei P40 Pro.

Quad camera means four cameras. Let me call them the standard camera, the zoom camera, the wide camera and a depth sensing camera.

What’s the standard camera specs?

  • Resolution: 50MP – this is a very high resolution especially for still photography, but is it the same for videography?
  • Sensor size: 1/1.28 inch – this is quite huge compared with regular camcorders, which means it can shoot better in a low-light environment.
  • That’s the camera in the centre.

What’s the zoom camera specs?

  • Optical zoom: 5x – that’s very Palma which means this is one of the top reasons I would buy this phone.
  • Hybrid Zoom: 10x – this is the combination of both Optical and digital Zoom.
  • Maximum Zoom: 50x – this is definitely digital Zoom which most likely I will not use.
  • Resolution: 12 MP – is this even enough to do the 5x Zoom?
  • That’s the camera on the left .

What’s the wide camera specs?

  • Resolution: 40mp – this is very high for a white lens camera, which means it’s better than most competitor phones.
  • Sensor size: 1/1.54 inch – that’s a huge sensor for a wide camera, again which means it is better than most competitor phones.
  • Other features: Ultra slow-motion video, ultra low light video, telephoto video, and 4K time-lapse video. This is another one of the top reasons why I will buy this phone for videography.
  • That’s the camera on the right.

What’s the depth sensing camera about?

  • I wouldn’t even call this a camera because it is simply a depth sensor to create that blur background look. It works together with the other cameras. It doesn’t record video or take a photo on its own.
  • That’s the lens below the three cameras.

What about the selfie camera?

There are two. One is the actual camera and the other one a depth sensing camera.

  • Resolution: 32 MP – that’s very high for a selfie camera, which means I’ll get a very clear image of myself while vlogging.

What are the features are there?

  • Multi Focus
  • AI Remove Passerby
  • AI Remove Reflection
  • Audio Zoom
  • Dual-view video

That’s all very fancy but will I use them?

Will I buy the Huawei P40 Pro?

The camera features for videography definitely beats Samsung and iPhone. Without Google Apps though, I will have to think twice. I rely heavily on Google apps.

What about you? Will you buy the Huawei P40 Pro?

Macbook Air M1 Case

I bought a transparent case for my MacBook Air M1 . It came with a free screen protector, a keyboard cover, and some rubber plugs to cover the ports. Check it out! https://youtu.be/d-wALSd3nn8 I didn't expect the rubber plugs. It was a nice surprise. The case fits snuggly, with access to all the ports. The keyboard cover is almost invisible to the eye. I have no intention to use the screen protector. Why? I need to see the true color of the display for my YouTube videos. ~ Adrian Lee  @Adrian Video Image  The video was recorded on iPhone 12 Pro Max with Filmic Pro app in 4K 60fps and edited with Capcut.

Sony Vegas Pro 8 Tutorial - Multicamera Editing

Sony Vegas Pro 8 makes it easier to edit videos from different cameras right from the timeline. You can capture and edit video for a single scene from 2 or more cameras or for a single scene shot a few times with one camera. Here is a tutorial of a Multicamera Edit of a drama I shot. The drama was acted out four times to the public and being a non-profit organization, the client have budget only for one videographer. For each of the 4 acts, the camcorder (Sony HDR-FX7 High Definition Camcorder) was placed at 4 different positions and shot in various angles. Multicamera edit is accomplished in only 8 steps with the Sony Vegas Pro 8. Step #1: Capture Multicamera Video Clips Use the normal Sony Vegas Video Capture function to capture recordings from each camera. Give each capture filename a unique name. Enable scene detection before capturing so that each segment is captured as a separate clip. Step #2 : Layout Video Clips on Timeline Drag and drop video clips over each other on the...
