🚿 Here’s how I got 1 million views on an e-commerce video without spending a cent on ads.
This is about a 58-second TikTok video I created to sell a simple shower head holder through TikTok Shop as an affiliate, earning a commission on each sale.
Yes, a shower head holder—nothing fancy or tech-related. It was a silent challenge to myself to prove I could sell anything with a video.
First, I requested a free sample from the vendor so I could feature it in my video. Then, I posted the video on TikTok with a link to the product, allowing the vendor to track clicks and pay me a commission for every unit sold.
That video has been up for five months now. Today, it has over 6,600 likes, 230+ comments, 1,700 saves, and a whopping 1 MILLION views. Amazing, right? And all without paying for ads.
Here’s how I made it happen:
✅️Teach, don’t sell. I scripted the video in a problem-solution format, like a tutorial. Instead of pushing a sale, I showed viewers step-by-step how I solved a common problem with the shower head holder.
✅️Speak like a local. Since TikTok prioritizes local audiences, I used ChatGPT to reword my script into simple, Singaporean-style English to connect better with my viewers.
✅️Reply to all comments. The AI-reworded script was on-point with its slightly off English (Singlish) sparking a lot of comments from native viewers. Rather than deleting them, I responded graciously. This boosted engagement, signaling TikTok’s algorithm to show my video to more people.
Over 1,000 shower head holders were sold.
But there’s a downside. On the street, I will meet two types of people who recognize me from TikTok: those who love my video editing tutorial and those who might ridicule me—though I haven’t run into the latter yet.
Not every video using this formula will perform as well. Success depends on the product and whether the vendor keeps it in stock. Plus, the earnings weren’t huge. It’s a cheap item with a tiny commission, though the low price might be why it sold so well.

PS: Original script...
Here is how I got 1 millions views to an ecommerce video without paying for ads.
This is a 58-second Tiktok video I created.
It's purpose is to sell a simple shower head holder from the tiktok shop as an affiliate and earn commission.
Yes. A shower head holder. Nothing to do with tech. A silent challenge to myself that my video can sell anything.
The first step is to request for a free sample, so that i can make a video about it.
Next is to post the video on TikTok with a link to the product vendor, so that they can track the clicks coming from my video and pay me the commission for every unit sold.
This video has been posted for 5 months already, and today it's got 6600+ likes, 230+ comments, 1700 saves, and 1 MILLION VIEWS.
Not easy, right?
No need to pay for ads.
And now, let me show you how it got a million views.
1. Teach, don't sell. I scripted this video in a problem-solution format like a tutorial, so I appear to be showing viewers how i solved a problem step by step.
2. Speak like a local. Knowing that TikTok target local audience, so i got ChatGPT to reword my script, so that it sounds more like a Singaporean simple language.
3. Reply to all Comments. So the AI generated script gave me some not so perfect English, which garnered plenty of native comments. I acknowledged these comments gracefully instead of deleting them, so that the tiktok algorithm notice the engagement and hence show my video to more people.
Now here's the downside. There are now 2 types of people I meet on the street that they say they saw me in tiktok. One type loves my tutorial. The other Type that ridicule me, I haven't encountered yet.
Also, not every video with the same formula will work just as well. It depends on the product itself. And it depends on whether the vendor still has stock.
That being said. Despite having 1 million views and plenty of negative comments, 1000++ pieces of shower head holders were sold.
There is also not much earnings since it is a cheap product with a tiny commission. The low price could also be another reason why the priduct sold so well.
