How to Make Video Viral on Facebook

How to create a viral facebook video?

In this post, I lay out all the steps and resources.

Hi, this is AdrianLee from AdrianVideoImage.com, where I document what I learn.

Facebook Viral Video

As I said, this is a documentation of the lessons I am learning right now. That means I have not created a viral Facebook video yet (though I have several viral YouTube videos).

Towards the end, I will present to you a PDF download of the Formula.

Creating the video

  1. Create a video that people will tag and share.
  2. Don’t steal other people’s videos like most tutorials tell you to.
  3. Meditate and Jot down ideas. Take 1 hour. Focus on the strong beginning and the memorable ending first.
  4. Start with a Strong hook in the first 3 seconds. Highlight a Problem OR Highlight the Best Benefit.
  5. Edit video to 30-second to 1-minute long. Trim away boring scenes. Do not show a scene for more than 3 seconds. Show something new every 3 seconds. Use b rolls.
  6. Make square videos. 1200×1200 pixels. It will show up a lot bigger on a mobile phone screen.
  7. Use subtitles. Or create meme videos with words on the top and bottom. More than 80% (2019) people watch without audio.
  8. Evoke emotions. Make people laugh, amaze people, or make them go wow. Otherwise make people feel happy, surprised or excited.
  9. Include a progress bar like Gary Vee videos. Or ask questions with countdown timer. So as to make the viewer not want to leave.
  10. Learn from what’s working here… https://www.facebook.com/IWantOneByHowlers/

Uploading to Facebook

  1. Upload to your Facebook page.
  2. Enter a catchy title, a one-line description, and the link to your website, sales page, or opt-in page . Tell people to tag a friend and share.
  3. Create a square BAITY thumbnail with red arrows, circles and emojis (star eyes, heart eyes, wow, screaming in fear).

Getting Organic Reach without ads

  • Facebook rewards consistent posting, loyalty of viewer watching till the end, and the video being watched on a shared page (distribution).

Using Facebook Ads

  1. Go to Facebook Ads Manager.
  2. Select Objective: Engagement.
  3. Enter a campaign name. (Use the keyword as a reference and add version number when duplicating and scaling)

Follow the rest of the FB ads setup here. Create multiple campaigns. $5 each. When not working, you’ll just lose $10 (after 48 hours). Duplicate and scale the rest.

  1. Use FB PPE ads with detailed targeting within your niche (keep it between 6-20M people).
  2. Monitor the campaigns for 48 hours. Stop any campaigns that are not achieving a CPE of $0.000x or less. Keep the others that perform.
  3. Duplicate and Scale those performing ad campaigns until people start sharing the video rapidly.
  4. Stop the ads after people start sharing more and more, you will no longer need Paid promotion. Let the organic reach take over.
  5. When the video reaches over 100k-200k views, create a custom audience of people who watched the video 75% of the way or more and re-target them with conversion ads.
  6. …The following steps are advanced options…
  7. Create a custom audience of website visitors in the last 30 days and re-target them with conversion ads as well with the Pixel.
  8. Re-target people who put items in their cart and did not check out with coupons.
  9. Finally, build a custom audience of buyers and customers and scale it using conversion ads as well.

FB ad dislikes Engagement BAIT

Posts will be demoted if they ask for likes, shares, tags, and comments. Here’s the workaround…

  • Say in Image: “We all know an animal lover who needs these”. Text: “We all know an animal lover who’d want these paw socks.” Get yours here: Link”.

Macbook Air M1 Case

I bought a transparent case for my MacBook Air M1 . It came with a free screen protector, a keyboard cover, and some rubber plugs to cover the ports. Check it out! https://youtu.be/d-wALSd3nn8 I didn't expect the rubber plugs. It was a nice surprise. The case fits snuggly, with access to all the ports. The keyboard cover is almost invisible to the eye. I have no intention to use the screen protector. Why? I need to see the true color of the display for my YouTube videos. ~ Adrian Lee  @Adrian Video Image  The video was recorded on iPhone 12 Pro Max with Filmic Pro app in 4K 60fps and edited with Capcut.

Sony Vegas Pro 8 Tutorial - Multicamera Editing

Sony Vegas Pro 8 makes it easier to edit videos from different cameras right from the timeline. You can capture and edit video for a single scene from 2 or more cameras or for a single scene shot a few times with one camera. Here is a tutorial of a Multicamera Edit of a drama I shot. The drama was acted out four times to the public and being a non-profit organization, the client have budget only for one videographer. For each of the 4 acts, the camcorder (Sony HDR-FX7 High Definition Camcorder) was placed at 4 different positions and shot in various angles. Multicamera edit is accomplished in only 8 steps with the Sony Vegas Pro 8. Step #1: Capture Multicamera Video Clips Use the normal Sony Vegas Video Capture function to capture recordings from each camera. Give each capture filename a unique name. Enable scene detection before capturing so that each segment is captured as a separate clip. Step #2 : Layout Video Clips on Timeline Drag and drop video clips over each other on the...
