iPhone 6 Battery Replacement Cost in Singapore

Image
Are you thinking of replacing the battery of your slowing-down iPhone 6? Are you deciding whether to get a new but expensive iPhone 8 or X? Thanks to this WSJ article and video, the decision is made. http://ift.tt/2CMd1VE So, Apple admits it is intentionally slowing iPhones with weak batteries. iOS 11 detects worn out batteries and slows down power intensive apps. They do this so that your old phone won’t suddenly shut down. Now I know why my iPhone is getting so slow… What’s NEXT? Before the news, I was already hunting for battery replacement. 1. Apple Service Singapore S$118 The first place to check out is none other than Apple in Singapore. http://ift.tt/2iKYe3o WOW! S$118 to get a new battery for my old phone. Is there a cheaper alternative? I asked around. 2. Phone Repair Shops S$40 to S$80 Yes, some phone repair shops offer battery replacement from S$40 to S$80. Someone recommended the S$40 one at Toa Payoh near the bus interchange. I was ready to go there, ...

BlueSG Electric Car Rental in Singapore

Image
It’s right downstairs where we live, Punggol. For weeks, I have seen the construction two charging stations at our carpark. This morning, 6 December 2017, two white smallish cars are parked there. Yes, they are white, not blue… though their name is BlueSG . It’s the first electric car sharing service in Singapore. First Thought The first thing that came to my mind is the ugly Singaporean. Will they park irresponsibly or throw it down from a height? At least that’s what happened to the bike sharing situation. BlueSG Locations This is a one-way rental scheme ( See how it works ). You pick the car from one location and return in another. So, knowing where to return the car is very important. See their full map of BlueSG locations in Singapore here . BlueSG Price I will be moving some big stuff soon and the car will come in handy. So how much must we pay to use the car? There are two plans. A one week plan and a one year.plan. The one-week plan is S$0 per m...

Philips DVB-T Indoor Digital TV Antenna Not Working

Image
On 2 December 2017, my new 49-inch 4K LED TV arrived. It’s the first smart TV in the house… the Philips 49PUT6801/98 ( limited time offer S$1599 S$899 ).   It’s also a digital TV… with surround sound ready. An indoor antenna came with it for free. I don’t have to use it, right? I just have to plug the TV into the cable tv wall outlet, right? Wrong! My Philips Digital TV Antenna is Not Working I am not subscribed to any Pay TV network (Singtel TV or Starhub TV), therefore I cannot use the cable TV wall outlet to receive digital TV. The old TV is plugged into that same outlet to receive the old analogue free TV signal, which will shut down on 31 December 2018 (Singapore). Of course, I can use the old method, but that would defeat the purpose of getting a 4K TV. So I have to use the antenna… the given Philips Active DVB-T Antenna. MediaCorp recommends using an active indoor antenna. BUT, the signal is weak inside my house! The picture keeps going on and off...
